I saw a post about the Mat and Odin connection and remembered this site. Check out section 3, soures of knowledge. It has very detailed information linking the characters and story to all kinds of legends and mythologies. Very interesting stuff and will give you some clues as to what to expect.

I'd like to start a thread that makes everyone all tingly--not because of the use of the One Power, I assure you, but because thinking of the answer to this question is a major reason why you love the series: What has been your all-time favorite scene or chapter?

**SPOILERS** My two cents: Ch. 19 Knife of Dreams -- Rand blows out a window of a manor house to face hundreds of thousands of trollocs led by hundreds of Fades. It could very well be the biggest collection of Shadowspawn in the ...

Now this is amazing. Apparently Red Eagle Games and EA have partnered up to create a whole host of solo games set in The Wheel of Time. What's even more interesting is that they're creating a massive multiplayer online game (MMO). Just like World of Warcraft. Wait a minute, you mean I can choose to be a Warder or Asha'man, wander around the Tear, Illian, Cairhien, Caemlyn...and fight the Shadow. Holy crap, where do I sign up!

TOR has apparently assigned one of their employees to re-read the WoT series. Leigh Butler's blog posts can be read HERE. I've read a couple of them and I am not impressed at all with the writing. However, it's helpful for review and to spawn discussion. Lets use this thread to respond to some of her words.

AMOL will be split into thirds because of the sheer size of the thing. Unfortunately, it will be published over a two year period. TAKE A LOOK

This is most unfortunate, but I hope they spend a lot of quality time on it just to get it right. The week of Nov. 3rd I think I'll be calling out sick - The Gathering Storm is being released. Also, Brandon Sanderson has stated that the tentative title for the last volume of AMOL will be called Tarmon Gai'don. That's fantastic! I've said for years ...

Hey guys, I had an interesting thought for discussion. I want everyone to give me snapshots that they think of that are indicative of each book. Since we are reading EOTW at the moment what are your thoughts on the first book. By snapshot I mean a moment captured in time of a major event in the story. For example on Winternight when Rand opens the door and there is a Trolloc there. I can envision that moment in time, the shock on Rands face, the Trolloc looming in the doorway. Another good one ...

Starting the last couple of weeks, my teacher in English has been reviewing different stages of the largest paper of the year. It is called the monomyth, and it is an analysis of hero's journey throughout a novel. There are many stages of the journey, and we have to take a book or movie (or book series or series of movies) of our own choosing and compare it to Huckleberry Finn's journey throughout The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

I have discussed this with Eric a little bit, but i want ...
