Rand made reference to Lan traveling the Blight by himself. It also seemed that his tone suggests that Rand thinks of Lan’s mission as a worthwhile one. Rand seemed almost disturbed that Lan was traveling alone. “A friend rides to his death without allies. There is so little time to do what I must” (83). I’m hoping that this admittance will spark some type of support for Lan. It seems at least that Lan’s mission is near the forefront of Rand’s mind. Lan, after all, was Rand’s sword master. Rand should feel some kind of duty towards the Warder.
